Cornell University

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University is a technical partner to WCS's Animal Hospital at the Bronx Zoo and has become a collaborating partner to COMACO under a grant from the SANREM CRSP program. Various academic researchers with their graduate students are assisting COMACO deal with a range of technical challenges in making COMACO better able to support conservation through better production practices of commodities linked to markets under the COMACO business model. Key areas of interest include soil improvement, better composting techniques, food product diversification, improved husbandry for goats and chickens and an analysis of the COMACO model itself.
